All items of assessment must be submitted in full within the indicated time frames.

There is one assignment for this unit, as follows:

Assignment Details

Assignment 1

This assignment requires you to compile a report based on your negotiated career path(s).

Research will need to be conducted so that data re: job descriptions, relevant educational qualifications, employment prospects in this field, work conditions including hours, wage or salary and possible increments, promotional opportunities and job diversity can be incorporated into the required report format. (TIP: you will need to research the library and any other relevant sources to provide up-to-date information for the report). Research material must be properly referenced using the Harvard Referencing System.

Your report should a minimum (sic) of 1000 words long and must include the following:

• Executive summary
• Table of Contents
• Introduction
• Main Body (including relevant headings and sub-headings from above)
• Conclusions
• References (at least 5-6)
• Appendices (including any statistical information, graphs, etc)

Due Date: Wednesday 5th May, 1999

Word Length: 1000+ words

Weighting: 100%

Marking criteria

In general there are no strictly "right" or "wrong" answers to the assignments in this uni (or many other units in university). Thus, identifying the marking criteria for the assignment is 'general' rather than 'specific' in nature. Each assignment will have different content (depending ont he topic), style and order.

In general, however, the assignment should have the following characteristics:

• appropriate content
• be analytical in nature, rather than just descriptive, demonstrating the writers (sic) knowledge and understanding of the concepts involved
• be well written
• have good and obvious structure
• be appropriately referenced (this does not necessarily mean in an academic manner)
• have a logical flow
• be easy to read and follow
• have a definite focus/theme
• have clear objectives
• have an executive summary, a contents list, a main body and conclusions/recommendations.

The marking criteria is detailed below. Make sure that you fully understand them and ask your lecturer if you have any queries. These criteria will also be used by the markers, who will record marks for each section and provide additional feedback.
