The Assignment

This took me a day to write. For the full effect, imagine it written in biro on several pages of foolscap stapled together, with page numbering at the top of each page. Appendix A is from a chip packet.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Perhaps my decision to become a Jedi was too hasty and perhaps you would agree that I should reconsider my choice of a future career. However, the contents of this assignment are based upon the abrupt decision I had to make in order to complete this document.

I am confident in my belief that space technology is as advanced in other galaxies as George Lucas has described and I regard this man as a prophet in our time. THe human race can expect a visitiation from an alien race in the next decade.

INTRODUCTION
As a student in Grade Twelve, I understand that a career choice is something that I must consider carefully so as to attempt to make a decision this year. I did not have any clear ideas of what choice I would make until I was struck by inspiration a day after completing my Semester 3 block exams. That was the day my family took me to see the movie "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace". My destiny was realised: I am to become a Jedi!

JOB DESCRIPTION
A Jedi is required to use his/her powers of "The Force" to uphold laws and keep peace among nations. They are often employed by governments as protectors, advisors, peacekeepers and ambassadors.

RELEVANT EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
A Jedi must be strong in "The Force". This innate power usually runs through bloodlines but can sometimes reside within an individual with no prior warning to its existence. After completing studies in law and history, a potential Jedi may enter a training course, either through the Jedi Academy or via an apprenticeship. The only Jedi Academy is located on a planet known as Yavin Four. The other method of training involves becoming an apprentice to a Jedi Master.

An education in electronics is also required as the Jedi is required to build their own lightsaber, which is the traditional weapon of the Jedi. Physical fitness is required to wield this weapon.

EMPLOYMENT PROSPECTS
Employment prospects in this field are unlimited. Common forms of employment for a Jedi are careers as an explorer, a spy, a politicion (sic) and a bodyguard.

WORK CONDITIONS
A Jedi is often required engage (sic) in combat, making this a very dangerous occupation. They are expected to work full-time and salary is negotitable. A Jedi is usually provided accommodation, food and transport by their employer.

PROMOTIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
After completion of their primary training, the applicant can undergo a test to become a Jedi Knight. Over time, a Jedi Knight can be promoted to a Jedi Master.

JOB DIVERSITY
Unlimited.

CONCLUSIONS

Although the danger involved in becoming a Jedi are high, I believe that the rewards are worth the risks. Defending the galaxy from the forces of evil is a dream which can best be realised by becoming a Jedi. My only fear is fear itself, as fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate and hate leads to the Dark Side.
